Zion Bailey began his martial arts journey in 2021 under three-time World Kickboxing Champion Dale “Sunshine” Frye, initially training in boxing for a year before transitioning to kickboxing. After three years of dedicated training, he moved to Raleigh to further his skills in Muay Thai under Coach Don Rodger at Apex Martial Arts.
Since joining Apex Martial Arts, Zion has achieved significant competitive success, earning multiple titles, including the IKF Welterweight Tournament Title, the IKF North Carolina State Welterweight Title, and the IKF East Coast Welterweight Title. He has competed in full-contact Boxing, Kickboxing, and Muay Thai bouts, demonstrating his versatility across multiple striking disciplines.
Before pursuing martial arts, Zion was a collegiate basketball player. In 2020, he played a key role in helping the Sandhills Community College Flyers secure the NJCAA DIII Men’s Basketball Championship. He continued his academic journey at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice.
Beyond his personal achievements in competition, Zion is an experienced coach and personal trainer. He has coached youth basketball, as well as Kickboxing, Boxing, and Muay Thai classes. At Apex Martial Arts, he shares his knowledge by leading group training sessions, helping students develop their skills and reach their goals.
